‘Thank you for believing in Latin America and for Africa Showcase coming to Mexico again. The Mexican market is growing very fast; the economy has been growing significantly during the last few years and Mexican travellers are wanting to explore the world. Latin Americans used to be scared to travel too far, but since the pandemic we see that Africa has become a desirable destination for Mexicans to visit. Africa is booming in this market.’
In November 2024, Africa Showcase brought the magic of Africa to Mexico City, a strategic hub in the growing Latin American travel market. Over two days, our VIP Meeting Session and Trade Event facilitated over 100 meetings between African travel suppliers and Mexican tour operators and agents.
The events demonstrated Africa’s growing appeal to Latin American travellers, particularly the Mexican market, which is increasingly embracing the continent as a desirable destination for honeymoons, family travel, and multi-generational trips.
Africa Showcase marked a historic milestone with the inaugural launch in Latin America in 2023. The roadshow opened to a warm reception in Brazil followed by successful events in Argentina and Mexico. The dynamic Latin American trade embraced an unprecedented array of African companies seeking to establish a presence in this burgeoning market. From final consumers to retail sales, from agencies to tour operators, all indicators suggest that interest in Africa is on the rise from Latin America.
It is inspiring to receive such positive feedback on the rising appetite for African travel from the Latin American market. To cater to this growing demand and to nurture relationships with the travel trade, the roadshow incorporated a range of exhibitors who could provide offers from Botswana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Seychelles, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Numerous operators and agents expressed their appreciation for a pan-African event of this calibre.
